Out of bliss these beings are born,
In bliss they are sustained,
And to bliss they go and merge again.

- TaittirÄ«ya Upanishad 3.6.1; Translated by Maharishi Mahesh Yogi

Obsessive Compulsive Bliss is my space for celebrating the power of bliss to transform disorder into order, to dispel suffering and enliven greater fulfillment in life. From my experience, bliss is my own nature; it is my birthright, and in accessing that and beginning to experience that wholeness of life, for me, the mental struggle of OCD began to disappear.

Here is my story

#diagnosingmypotential

Hi. My name is Adam. For years I struggled with severe Obsessive Compulsive Disorder. Then one day I transcended and experienced the bliss of my Self. From then on everything began to change. Consciousness began to expand leaving me, more free to be.

Self-trust increased, self-doubt, fear, and worry began to melt away. Clarity of thinking improved as perception widened and sharpened. The big picture of life and of my Self, grew in my awareness, releasing the suffocating grip of irrational thoughts and actions. The truth became more transparent allowing obsessions and compulsions to fade. My heart swelled, and all of this began to happen without struggle, without force, without trauma.

OCD did not disappear overnight but gradually and steadily it became an experience of the past and now, OCB is what I feel is my diagnosis for life; a life of disorder transformed by nature’s own everlasting spring of bliss within me.

For me, Transcendental Meditation was the key which unlocked my experience of transcending, my doorway into bliss. And for this I am forever grateful beyond expression to Maharishi Mahesh Yogi, the remarkable scientist of consciousness who gifted this precious technology of transcending back to humanity from the ancient and eternal Vedic tradition. The beautiful Sanskrit expression above from the TaittirÄ«ya Upanishad and translated by Maharishi, says it all perfectly.

My experience overcoming OCD sparked in me a yearning to more fully understand the relationship between bliss and the mind with a deep desire to help support others struggling from mental illness. This led me to become a teacher of Transcendental Meditation and to set out on a Ph.D. journey to investigate the effects of transcending through the Transcendental Meditation technique on OCD. Through #diagnosepotential I hope to share with you my experiences to contribute in whatever small way I can towards inspiring a shift in the methods of mental health support away from the search for disorder and lack, and towards the development of full human potential–in two words: Bliss and Wholeness.

In this blog I will share my journey moving from OCD to OCB; from disorder towards increasing levels of order and balance through experiencing the bliss of my Self. My hope is that you can relate to my experiences and somehow benefit from our time spent together.

I have arranged OCB into 6 sections that follow the path of my journey:

1. The Quiet Whisper of the Self: Diagnose potential

2. What If World: Living with Obsessive Compulsive Disorder

3. Escape from What If World: Transcending disorder

4. What IS: Experiencing the Self

5. Obsessive Compulsive Bliss: Living fullness

6. Bridging the Gap: OCB for humanity

plus I've added an extra section for extra joy called:

7. Bliss in Sight: Experiences of bliss

From my own experience, this is my truth: Transcending is the key that unlocks the doorway into bliss, and bliss is the key to transform mental illness into stillness.

Enjoy the bliss my friends.
